To better fit the Chrysler Corporation lineup, alongside low-priced and mid-priced Plymouth DeSoto, Flotilla in early 1930 was trimmed to a core group of two lines and thirteen models (from three lines and only nineteen models over a year). Plattner Auto Group: Dillon, Read & Co. offers no voting rights on the market in the new Dodge Brothers, Inc., firm, and together with the bond sale was able to raise $ 160 million, earning $ 14 million (net) profit. All voting shares are held by Dillon, Read. Frederick Haynes remained as head until EG Wilmer company was named board chairman in November 1926. Wilmer was a banker with no experience of self and Haynes remained as president. The company has long worked in alternative technology vehicles, and recently has led the industry with the burning of ethanol flexible fuel vehicles that can run on either E85 (ethanol) or gasoline. The company was the first to use turbochargers and was an early advocate of V6 engines in the 1960s, but quickly lost interest as the muscle car race took hold.
They showed vehicles powered by gas turbine kerosene, an area of interest throughout the industry, but abandoned the alternative engine configuration in view of the 1973 oil crisis. In the 1970s and 1980s, GM pushed the benefits of diesel engines and technologies Cylinder deactivation with disastrous results due to poor durability in the Oldsmobile diesels and drivability issues in the V8 Cadillac-6-4 variable cylinder. In 1987, GM, in conjunction with AeroVironment, built the Sunraycer, who won the inaugural World Solar Challenge and was a showcase tech. Much of the Sunraycer technology found its way into the Impact prototype electric vehicle (also built by Aerovironment) and was the forerunner of the EV1 from General Motors.
