You know that the information contained in your credit report determines your credit score, but how to turn information into a number?

Each time you apply to borrow money from a lender, either a loan or credit card, your credit report and score will be checked. This score often determines whether or not you are approved for credit.

Credit scores range from 340 and 850, and are used to determine whether or not it is likely that you will to repay the loan. The lower the score, the greater the risk of not having to repay the loan. For example, a borrower with a score of 439 is less likely to pay a loan a borrower with a score of 712.

Before applying for a loan, you should have an idea of what your credit score is. For at least once a year you should review your credit report to ensure it is correct. What is on your report will be reflected in your score.

The three credit bureaus - Equifax, TransUnion and Experian - all software in use of different computer that takes the information in your credit report and score generated numbers. Each office can report a different score, which can vary as much as 100 points. For example, my husband is actually one of those people who has a difference 80 points between the highest and lowest. Others, like me, have three results that are at a point or two of each other. One of the mysteries of life.

Your credit score is calculated with the following information from your credit report:

  • 35% Payment History - Do you pay on time, every time?
  • 30% of the amount owed - how much you owe to your creditors?
  • 15% Length of Credit History - How long Was time a borrower?
  • 10% Types of credit - only have credit cards?
  • 10% New Credit Obtained - Have you been on a shopping spree?

Your payment history is seen in the last seven years of their accounts. Have you paid your bills on time each month? The story includes open and closed accounts, negative accounts and collections and any delinquent accounts you may have.

The amount owed is in the amount of credit you have and how much he owes to his lenders. Do you want to show that you have little debt owed to press compared to the amount you have available. This shows how often you pay your debts and how much is building over time. Lenders do not want to see borrowers who are the most in all his letters. This makes it a risk.

The length of your credit history shows how long since they've opened an account. A long credit history shows that continuing making payments and a good borrower.

The types of credit you use a reflection on what kind of borrower you are. There are mortgages, credit cards, auto loans, guaranteed loans and subprime loans. You should have different types of credit, not all credit cards.

In the past six months, the amount of new loans that have earned? If you've been on a buying spree, will lower your credit score.

Take measures to increase your credit score. Look what I have the most impact - your payment history. Start paying on time every month. Take care of any delinquencies and loan portfolio up. Then, start paying your debt as possible. Working on a long credit history, which simply takes time. Make sure you have a number balance of the secured and unsecured debt. Finally, try to space their financing, so that they are not getting all the new credits at a time.
