Cashing out Car Warranty (extended)?

I have an extended warranty on my car (worth about 2K) and i decided that i want to sell the car, but first I want to cash out the warranty. I know that i will have to call the phone # on the warranty card and all of that nonsense, but i was wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what happens, how long it takes, etc. Thanks!

You should contact the dealership where you purchased the warranty and fill out a cancellation form. Make sure that you receive a copy of the cancellation document. The dealership will then turn the cancellation paperwork into the warranty company and they will send the dealership the refund money and then the dealership will issue you a check for the cancellation monies. Most warranty companies will allow the dealership to generate a cancellation quote on the day that you cancel so you have a general idea of how much money you will be receiving as a refund. It normally takes about 4 to 6 weeks to process paperwork and then get the check out to the customer. Another recommendation is to get a contact name and number of the warranty administrator (usually in the accounting office) to follow-up with them to make sure you get your check.

Follow-up by calling the warranty company to tell them that you have canceled the policy through the dealership.
