A mere five minutes of searching on Google, Yahoo etc will lead to thousands of companies eager to offer to cover your car at the time of manufacture warranty expires. What should be done to compare and check the reliability of coverage of companies that offer?

1) Check BBB records, have hundreds if not thousands, of compaints?

2) Is backup coverage from the manufacture of the vehicle or a third party?

3) Is the coverage accepted by your local dealer and also specifies the use of new parts, rebuilt components remanfactured or not?

4) Is there a deductible and if so, is it per visit, or for the repair.

Extended warranty on ....? new car

I just bought a new Dodge Caliber with manufacturer warranty of 3 years, 36,000 miles. They are trying to get me to get the extended warranty for an additional bumper to bumper 3 years. Which includes a lease if it is being addressed and a deductible of $ 100 (after warranty factory has expired). It is $ 960.00 plus tax. I prefer not to fund an additional $ 1000. I am a fool not to take it? Tell me your experience. PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!

I've been in the auto repair business as a certified teacher Technology for about 30 years, and unless something really happens catistrophic, not as an engine or transmission, in my opinion, the guarantees are worth the paper they are printed. It always seems to sound better than they really are, and less to do only the right questions, you only get the marketing "propaganda" the seller are taught to "parrot" Beware, the right questions like'I'm answers are pretty sure its cover "or'probably" If you really want to stop wasting money, you have questions, request in writing and obtain written answers <preferably signed by a Manger with tenure in the business.
