Auto Repair Estimates

Auto Repair Estimates

Is it rude to a question from a car repair estimate?

When a car repair shop called and give me a quote to fix my car, it's rude to question the charges, for example, "Gee, MUCH wish for that part?, I can get it for much less in the local auto parts store. "Does that only they get unhappy and affect the quality of work?

Yes, you can almost always get a share of the local parts store that I will charge you for it, but ... Ask yourself this. What exactly is the guarantee that The parts store will give me, and have to pay for labor to replace if defective? When I give my clients a 15 month/15, 000 miles no guarantee problems in all parts and labor that means just that, parts and labor. Another thing to consider is that time is money, and it takes time to locate and parts purchased. Some take a long time. I'll be happy to install the parts you have inside, but if trash before leaving the parking lot, and I hope to save about few dollars in parts will be sufficient to pay for my (or anyone else) to remove the defective item so you can go get the store warranty parties. Oh yeah, and do not forget to re-install as well. Let me give you a few examples. In the recent past I had a customer who needs service around a hard to find, use main wiring harness. My price is $ 250 for the part was outrageous because they are online for just $ 175. To save $ 75 drove 200 miles round trip. If he was paid minimum wage for their time, worth $ 30 so now saves only $ 45. Now subtract the price of gas and savings has been reduced to about $ 20. Now, when you stop in my store and have the wrong part of which is non-refundable, how much was saved? You know the answer and he did. This time I made the offer of the harness. Also in the last year or so replaced a water pump and timing belt on a '05 Amanti. It is a very complicated job. The client told me that her husband could get a water pump cheaper than I wanted. He saved about $ 20 (in a work of several hundred dollars) for me to install your remanufactured pump at my new pump. A few days later to collect her car, she left to take home and had a huge pool of coolant under it. The pump was leaking cartridges. It took an additional 4.5 hours of labor to save $ 20. Good job. I know this is not the answer they want to hear, but these two cases illustrate my point, and I hope that helps you see the error of his ways. Most repair shops independent since the sale of parts and labor as cheaply as they can and still stay in business. Most of us just want to do a professional job at a price that still allows us to feed our family. If you have any questions, feel free to send a message. Have a nice day.
